God wants to teach us, grow us, renewing our minds. He does this through the prophets by teaching with similitudes, allegories. Hosea's life story became the lesson and living picture for us. God told him to take a wife who would eventually be unfaithful and become a prostitute. God used this to speak to Israel —and us. Hosea's wife, Gomer, represented the unfaithfulness of Israel.
