From a historical point of view, the book of Joshua recounts the conquest of Canaan by the Jewish people. On a spiritual level, Joshua is about claiming the life of abundance and victory that Jesus promised His followers. After forty years of wandering in the wilderness, the Israelites had finally made it to the outer edges of the Promised Land. They could see it, but they couldn’t quite get to it. They could almost touch it, but it remained out of reach. Every generation needs their
own unique encounter with the living God. God directed His people to fix their eyes on the Ark and follow it. For three days, the people been staring at the river driving home the impossibility of their situation. God instructed the people to redirect their gaze and focus to the Ark. God iknows that whatever gets our attention, gets us. He was really directing them to shift their focus to the Lord. The they were told to "consecrate," then "step out, and stand still." Lord wants to bring you into new dimensions of His love and grace. He wants to help you cross over and claim new territory.
