In the first verse, David establishes the theme of the song and makes the following bold declaration: "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want…." Then he points out some of the benefits he enjoyed in life because the Lord was his shepherd. God wants to restore, or give you back your soul. Your soul is who you are. It is your mind, your will, and your emotions all rolled into one. There are times when our souls need to be restored.
