Ray Bentley - March 8th, 2020 - Matthew 26:1-13
The greater Passover has come. Matthew now turns his attention on the last few days of Jesus' earthly ministry in Israel. Three and a half years of healing and teaching are ending. It is time for Jesus to fulfill His work on the Cross. Jesus is finished speaking of the Last Days and points to Passover in a few days – the celebration of Israel’s deliverance from slavery during the days of Pharaoh. The Hebrew meaning of Passover is “spring or jump over.” What an appropriate name for the time the Angel of Death “passed over” the children of Israel. A woman who had an alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume demonstrated extravagant love and worship. Instead of anointing His body after His death she did so before His death. A prophetic act of faith and love!
