When Jesus cried with a loud boice, "It is finished," He was saying that He had completed His mission. He had fulfilled His Father's purpose. The phrase “it is finished” is one word in Greek, tetelestai, which means “paid in full.” No one took Jesus life from Him. He yielded His Spirit. There is now no spearation between us and God's glory. The Veil was torn. Even a hardened Roman centurion confessed, "This is the Son of God." To their everlasting honor the women with Him demonstrated more courage and affection to their Lord than the disciples who had promised to die for Him. Different races, nationalities, languages, classes were at the Cross.
