We are salt and light. Jesus didn't tell us to become salt or light. He said we are salt and light. We are either fulfilling or failing in that calling in the world at large.
Believers are like salt becasue we have value, and have a preserving influence. When Jesus calls us light, He is paying a great compliment and giving us a great responsibility.
