The Unknown God is Jesus! Good news came to Athens, one of the most glorious cities in the world. It was the center of art, beauty, culture, and knowledge. Because they were lost, they were always trying to find some new religion, new god, new thought, new philosophy, new way to believe. So Paul stood in the middle of Mars Hill, where so many of the world’s great philosophers had stood, such as Socrates, Plate and Aristotle. His sermon is a masterpiece, connecting brilliantly with people from another culture showing Paul understood both Greek society and the humanities—and their spiritual needs.
