The pressure to bow down to the king was enormous. But the friends of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, refused. Calmly, poslitely, but firmly: "O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” We too need to find the strength to stand. You are able to stand when you expect to take a hit. Just as Peter later counseled his fellow believers: "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you" (1 Peter 4:12). You are able to stand when others stand with you. You are able to stand in the big trials when you have stood in the smaller ones. You are able to stand when you see Jesus standing with you.
