It is time to pray as never before! Prayer played a significant role in the story of the early Church as recorded in the book of Acts. They prayed for guidance in making decisions, for courage to witness for Christ. Prayer was a part of the daily life of the Church. In almost every chapter of the book of Acts you will find a reference to prayer. Prayer releases the Power of God! As we wait on the Lord for every decision, we can't limit God to our choices. Fifty days after the resurrection, the roar and the fire of the Holy Spirit fell upon the Church. The purity and power of the Holy Spirit brought the Spirit of God as breath blowing over the waters at creation; as breath blowing life into newly created man; as breath moving over the dry bones of Israel bringing them to life again. Fire is purification, as a refiner uses fire to make pure gold, or burn away the temporary, leaving only what will last. Power and Purity!
